nice on the riviera, you have to go at least once a year

we just came back from Nice, definetly a visit worth aspacially when you live in Berlin, which is cold and clowdy most of the winter.
In Nice, we were just strolling in the small streets of the old town(Vielle Ville) with it's charming stores and shops. We came to a shop called Nirvana where you can buy beautiful turquoise rings and dream catchers on 10 rue du Collet -06300 Vieux Nice.
The music in the shop caught our attention and we asked the shop keeper what it was that they were listening to. They gave us the CD name, it was the group "Hotel Costes" with the song "Adios".
The weather is always sunny in Nice and the light gives the sea a special color, that is what made so many famous artists work there (Chagall, Picasso). Just walk along the Baie des Anges the Bay of Angels as the promenade in Nice it's called and let your eyes enjoy the view.
Lay on the free pebble beach in February (as we did) or sit in one of the cafes right on the beach and let the time pass by.
Don't miss the port of Nice with it's beautiful yachts. You can sit right on the side in a cafe and have a french breakfast : baguette with butter and confiture and a big coffee for 10€ (for two)
You can sit there as long as you want. 50 meter away is the bus No: 17 or 100 which takes you to the next village, Villefranche. It only takes 10 minutes and the bus rides are very cheap €3,50 for a ticket.
This is a charming little port with lots of Boulangeries (bakery's). A must see and taste is the food market in the center of the village if you go on a Saturday morning.

travel the planet 1- reviews

I like to read about hotels reviews on the trip advisor web site. Some are very helpful, some are just hillarious, however all of them help me choose the right place. I just want to ad that we NEVER use to book before, just started the trip and wound up somewhere........
Well a new era started with this reviews so here are some which I consider so so very funny (www.tripadvisor.com)

First I will start with the good points. The hotel is in a good location very close to main shopping area and lots of restaurants and bars. We had a nice balcony that overlooked a quiet street and St Pierre Cathedral. Lots of closet space in the room. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was basic continental but good. There is a nice overlook on 5th floor that you can take some nice photos of city and Lake Geneva.Free WiFi all throught the hotel.
Negatives: the decor of this hotel is appauling! When we got off the lift at our floor I thought we were in a daycare center. The walls are painted an awful yellow with pictures of clowns all over. Very strange! The rooms are very small and have a very small uncomfortable bed. Pillows are paper thin. The bathroom was clean but is somewhat run down and has mold due to excessive use.
We are all about budget hotels but this was like staying in a Youth Hostal! I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay there again.

winter in Berlin

this is how it looks at the moment in the Leichhardtstr. I kind of like it though.
I am wearing the UGS, and they are really ugly but warm and nice.
I feel like we are on sky vacation....I wish...
